Lunch With Grandpa

PHOTO PROMPT © John Nixon

“Why are you here, Grandpa?”

“Well, I–“

“Did you think that you and I were having lunch today?”

“Well, I–“

“It’s tomorrow, Grandpa, not today. It’s too bad you came all this way. Did you get a ride?”

“No, I took the bus.”

“The next bus should be here in about fifteen minutes. Would you like me to wait with you at the stop? I’ll just let Angie know.”

“But–“

“It’s no trouble, Grandpa.”

Angie bustled in. “Hello, Stan.”

“You two know each other?”

“Yes. We’re old friends, aren’t we, Stan. Let’s head over to Sizzler’s.”

    1. Thanks, Lisa 🙂 Am so thrilled to hear that. As I mentioned in other comments, I had fun writing it. No, Grandpa doesn’t have to tell his grandchildren everything. Yes, Angie and he had lots of happy times ahead.
