Date Updates

“So, how was your date with Eric?”

“It wasn’t a date.”

“What would you call it then?”

“Two people going to a show together.”

“Hmm”

“What about you little wine tasting adventure? Did you and your girlfriend have fun?”

“She isn’t my girlfriend.”

“What would you call her then?”

“Someone I’ve been out with twice.”

“Hmm.”

“So, how was the show?”

“It was great.”

“What did you and he do after you left the theater?”

“We went to Tony’s Italian restaurant which was nearby. They serve some really great pasta there. What about you and your date? Did you end up going for a bite to eat after the wine tasting?”

“Yes. We went to Green House Tavern near Times Square.”

“And after you left the restaurant, did you go to her place or yours for a nightcap?”

“After we left the restaurant, she had the chauffeur drop me home. I didn’t invite her up for a nightcap. We said goodbye and I went up to my apartment. What about you and your co-worker?”

“After we left the restaurant, we walked to the subway. We rode part of the way and I got off and walked home. I showered and changed into my nightgown. Watched the News and some shows. Then, I turned off the television and spent the rest of the evening reading before I went to bed.”

“If he asks you to go somewhere with him again, would you accept?”

“No.”

“Why not?”

“Eric’s a really nice guy but, I don’t want to give him the wrong idea.”

“Oh.”

“Are you going to stay for a while?”

“Would you like me to?”

“Of course! Why wouldn’t I?”

“Just wanted to make sure.”

“Laszlo, I don’t want things to change between us because of her.” Why was it that she couldn’t bring herself to say the other woman’s name? Maybe it was because she was jealous of her.

“They won’t.”

“Good. Take off your jacket and let’s relax on the sofa. We can watch something on Netflix while snacking on Salt and vinegar zucchini chips.”
