Also do not take to heart everything people say, Lest you hear your servant cursing you. For many times, also, your own heart has known That even you have cursed others – Ecclesiastes 7:21, 22
Does it bother you what other people say about you? How do you feel when you overhear them talking about you? Do you get angry, upset or depressed? Do you confront them or do you avoid or ignore them while seething with resentment? Do you vent? Do you think about the people you’ve talked about and how they must have felt now that the shoe is on the other foot?
Even if others talk and say things about you which can be hurtful, you don’t have to do the same. As a child of God, you can’t praise Him and bad mouth someone. Sometimes people use their tongues to praise God and sometimes they use their tongues to curse those who have been made in His image. In other words, blessing and cursing come pouring out of the same mouth and as James rightly said, this is not right!
Even if others use their mouths to put you down, you use yours to lift God up and to pray for them.
