It was the day before school closed for Christmas. When Amelie saw the stuffed toys which had gotten wet in the snow hanging on the line, she smiled and thought of the nursery at home. Derrick and she were filled with perpetual excitement because of her pregnancy.
In the office, a letter was in her mailbox. She took it out. It was from Cate, Derrick’s ex-mistress. Amelie was tempted to tear it up until she saw the return address. Cate was in a convent?

She shouldn’t be any problem now because she’s in a convent. It would be interesting to know why she wrote a letter to her ex-lover’s wife, though.

Hmmm… not sure she’s going to want to open that letter, but I suspect things could be even worse in the long run if she doesn’t!

No matter how tempting, it is not right to open other people’s letters. Doesn’t mean she can’t have a little chic-chat with Derrick once he opens it.

Actually, the letter is for her, not Derrick. It was in her mailbox at the school. Not sure she’s going to tell Derrick about it.

Ah, my mistake! Then, yes, absolutely, she must open it. And if their relationship is worthwhile, depending on the contents… or, she could open it with him present.

Perhaps Cate wants to apologize to her for being the other woman in Derrick’s life and the pain it caused. It would have been better if she hadn’t written the letter and just let go of the past.
