Parin was on his way to the kitchenette to make himself a cup of tea when he heard the chime. It was after hours but he was expecting his brother, Darain. He went to the front and was surprised to see a woman standing there. She was stunning! “Hello.”
“Hello.”
“May I help you?”
She stared at him for a while. “I’m here to see Darain,” she said.
“Oh. He’s not here as yet but I expect that he will be here shortly. You’re more than welcome to wait here or in the lobby.”
“I’ll wait here,” she replied, pulling up a chair and sitting down.
“I was about to fix myself a cup of tea, would you like some?”
“No, thank you.”
“I’ll be right back.” He left and return a few minutes later with a mug. He leaned against the wall, watching her as he sipped the hot tea.
“Are you by any chance related to Darain?”
“Yes, I’m his older brother, Parin.”
He wasn’t handsome like Darain but he was gorgeous and sexy. He got her heart and pulse racing. Was he married or did he have a girlfriend? She hoped neither was the case. “Oh, yes. He did mention that he had a brother.”
“You have me at a disadvantage. You know who I am but I don’t know who you are. Are you Darain’s girlfriend?” He hoped not.
She chuckled. “No. He and I are just friends. We met a couple of years ago through a mutual friend. He asked me to meet him here. I hope you don’t mind.”
“No, I don’t mind. What’s your name?”
“It’s Carina. So, you own and run this technology repair business.”
“Yes.”
“I see that you’re not into wearing business suits like Darain.”
“You’re right, I’m not a suit and tie guy. I feel more comfortable dressed like this.”
She had to admit that he looked great in the sweater and jeans. “I’m with you. I work at a company where the dress is casual.”
“So, if you’re not Darain’s girlfriend, whose girlfriend are you?”
“I don’t have a boyfriend. What about you? Do you have a wife or a girlfriend?”
“I’m not married and I’m currently not in a relationship.”
“Do you work out a lot?”
“Yes. I go to the gym three times a week.”
“I can tell,” she said as her eyes traveled over him.
He smiled. “After you’ve finished your business with Darain, maybe you and I could go for a drink.”
“Sure,” she said. Her cell rang. She looked at the display. “It’s your brother. Hi, Darain. I’m here at the office waiting for you.”
“Sorry, Carina but I won’t be able to see you this evening. Something unexpected has come up. Could we meet another time?”
“Sure. Just let me know when it’s convenient for you.”
“How about Sunday at 3?”
“That’s fine. Where would you like to meet?”
“How about Jubilee Park at Canary Wharf?”
“All right. I’ll meet you there on Sunday at 3.”
“See you then.”
“I guess he isn’t coming,” Parin said.
“No, he can’t make it today. It looks like we can go for that drink sooner rather than later.”
“Just give me ten minutes to lock up and then, we’ll head out. You can leave your car here and we’ll take mine.”
“Sure.” This Friday evening was shaping up very nicely. Instead of going straight home after seeing Darain if he had shown up as planned, she was going for a drink with his sexy older brother.
