“Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” – Acts 4:12, NKJV
Salvation comes through only one way and that is through Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God. This is why God sent Him. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved” (John 4:16, 17, NKJV).
Salvation doesn’t come through good works or good behavior but through the Lamb of God who came to take our sins away. He was sent by the Father to save us. Sin had separated us from God and Jesus is the only One who could reconcile us and the only way He could do that is through the shedding of His precious blood.
At the Lord’s Supper with His disciples, Jesus took the cup, and after He gave thanks, He gave it to them, saying, “Drink of it, all of you. For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.” The fruit of the vine symbolized His blood just as the bread which He had broken before then symbolized His body. Without His sacrifice on the Cross, salvation could not be possible. Peter had this to say about Jesus to Cornelius, a centurion believer in God and his household, “To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins” (Acts 10:43, NKJV).
So, Jesus is not only God’s only Source of salvation for the world but His only choice. There are no other ways or alternatives to salvation. Jesus is the only way. Paul wrote to the Romans, “If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9, NLT). John the Baptist testified that, “He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him” (John 3:36, NKJV).
God demonstrates His love for us through the salvation which comes through His Son. “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him” (Romans 5:8, 9, NKJV). Reconciliation with the Father could not have been possible if Jesus hadn’t died for us. Sin separated us from God but Jesus’ sacrifice reconciled us to Him. For this reason, we ought to “rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation” (verse 11).
The devil has deceived people into believing that they can get to heaven in other ways but Jesus Himself said that no one could come to the Father, except through Him (John 14:6). Salvation is of God, the Father and is through His Son, Jesus who came to give “His life a ransom for many” (Matthew 20:28, NKJV). Praise God, the Father for loving us so much that He sent His Son to lay down His life for us and rejoice in Jesus who willingly laid down His life.
There is no other name by which we can be saved. And one day, at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God, the Father, because, “being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross” (Philippians 2:8-11, NKJV).
