Compelled

Matt stared at Gina, stunned.  They were in the children’s library.  She had asked him to meet her there and while Cameron was sitting at one of the tables, reading a book, they spoke.  She had just told Matt that he could have his divorce.

“It’s what you want, isn’t it?” she muttered resentfully.

“Yes, but, why are you suddenly agreeing to it?”

“Does it matter?  Just be thankful that I am.”

“I am.”

That night, she called her father.  “I agreed to the divorce.”

“A wise decision, Gina.”

“It was either that or…”

“I tell Matt what you did.”

    1. I have written about Gina and her father before when he threatened to spill the beans when she refused to let Cameron see his father whom he loved spending time with. You’re right. Gina couldn’t risk losing custody of him so she agreed to the divorce.

    1. Her husband, Matt wants a divorce but she refused to give him one until her father threatened to tell Matt that she left their son in a hot car. Afraid of what might happen, she agrees to the divorce.

  1. The ending wasn’t what I expected but I love it anyway. It leaves us with a desire to know more.
Aahhhh … I see the answer above you have written to Liz. Well … that’s outrageous. I guess it can happen.

    1. I’m happy you loved the story in spite of its ending. There was a time when on the News, when it seemed that too often kids were being left inside hot cars. You’re right, it is outrageous, but sadly, it happens. Thanks, Isadora. You have yourself a wonderful weekend too 🙂
