“And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day” – John 6:40, NKJV
Recently, when I was watching the animated Bible story, Bread From Heaven, I was struck by Jesus’s Words. He said that it was the Father’s will that everyone who sees His Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life. These will be resurrected at Jesus’ Second Coming. This is reason for us to celebrate His first coming which took place thousands of years ago in the small town of Bethlehem in a manger.
At Christmas, we reflect on the birth of Christ and the salvation which comes only through Him. While we exchange gifts with our loved ones, think of God’s greatest Gift to us–the Gift which was wrapped in swaddling cloths. On that glorious night, God gave the world the true bread from heaven–His Son, Jesus who came down from heaven to give us life (John 6:32, 33). Jesus said, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst” (verse 35). He came to give us life.
Thank You, Father, for sending the true Bread of Heaven so that everyone who sees and believes in Him will have eternal life. It was Your will that we should spend eternity with You and that is only possible if we believe in Your dearly beloved Son. Thank You for giving us yet another reason to celebrate and rejoice this Christmas season.
