Time to Make Up

Malory went into the guest room where Rasik was still sleeping. He was sitting on the bed, with his knees drawn and his arms folded. The sheets covered the lower part of his body. Her eyes traveled over his bare torso.

How tempted she was to walk over there and push him on to his back so that she could climb on top of him and kiss him. It had been a while since they had made love and she felt like she was quietly going out of her mind because she ached for him. Right now, her body was on fire.

Did he miss the intimacy they enjoyed until that damn party where she ran into Reggie? They were like strangers living under the same roof. She couldn’t allow things to continue like this for much longer. And she refused to let Reggie or Vajra or anyone else ruin her marriage.

She remained standing by the window and watched him as he sat there looking at her. “Rasik, I miss you,” she said huskily. “I miss having you in our bed next to me. I miss making love with you.”

A muscle began to throb in his cheek. He missed her too. And right now, he wanted her in the bed with him. Under the sheet, he became aroused at the thought of making love to her. She looked damned sexy in the little two piece outfit she was wearing. He wanted to get up from the bed and drag everything off, carry her over to the bed and ravage her but jealousy and pride kept him where he was.

“Rasik, how long are you going to punish me?” she asked when he didn’t say anything.

“I’m not punishing you.”

“What would you it call it then? You avoid me. We haven’t had breakfast or dinner together for a while and you’re sleeping in here instead of with me. We haven’t kissed or made love in a while. Do you have any idea how hard it is for me to stand here when what I really want to do is jump you?”

Heat surged through his body and he shuddered. “Do you think this is easy for me?” he demanded. “Right now I want you so badly that I’m afraid that I would go out of my mind.”

“Then, what’s stopping you?”

“I run into Vajra yesterday and–“

“How come you didn’t mention this to me yesterday?”

“I didn’t feel like talking about it then.”

“What happened?”

“She mentioned your friendship with Reggie and that she knew for a fact that he wants to be more than your friend.”

Malory sighed. “I hate to say it but you were both right about Reggie.”

He stiffened. “What do you mean?”

“It’s true that he wanted to be more than friends but I set him straight.”

“How did you do that?”

“I told him that he was wasting his time because as far as I’m concerned he’s just a friend. I made it crystal clear to him that I loved you and that you were the only man I wanted to be with. He had the nerve to get upset and ask me why would a fine black woman like me hook up with an Indian man. I gave him a piece of my mind. I told him that this fine black woman was damned lucky to meet and fall in love with a gorgeous and absolutely wonderful South Asian man. And I made it clear to him that I was never ever attracted to him. He said to me that I didn’t know what I was missing. I was quick to reply that I wasn’t missing anything. Everything I wanted and needed I got from my husband. Then, I walked away.”

“Do you know what I said to Vajra when she told me that you would leave me for him?”

Malory stared at him. “She told you that?”

“Yes.” He told her what Vajra had said. “I told her that you weren’t going to leave me and that you love me and I love you. I also told her that you weren’t interested in being more than friends with Reggie even if he was and that if you have to make him understand that, you would. Then, I told her to stay the hell out of our business before I walked away.”

Malory smiled. “Good for you. And as you can see, you were right. I made Reggie understand that I never wanted to be more than friends with him. And now, he’s history.”

“And so is Vajra.”

“Let’s forget about them, Rasik. Let’s just concentrate on us.” She moved away from the window and went over to him. He swung his feet over the side of the bed and faced her as she stood looking down at him. “I love you,” she murmured huskily, caressing his cheek.

“And I love you.” He caught her by the waist and pulled her down onto his lap. She wrapped her arms around his neck, closing her eyes and sighing blissfully as she felt his lips moving on hers.
