Rasik Levels With Vajra

He was on his way to his car after dropping off shirts and suits at the laundry when he bumped into Vajra. Sighing heavily, he stopped and leaned against the post. She was the last person he wanted to see at the moment.

“Hello, Rasik,” she said.

“Hello, Vajra.”

“How are you?”

“Fine.” He didn’t bother to ask her how she was. Maybe it was because he didn’t care to know.

“Are you sure you’re all right? You don’t look like you are.”

“I’m fine,” he insisted. Why didn’t she just go away and leave him alone.

“You look upset about something,” she persisted. “Does it have to do with Malory and her friend, Reggie?”

“Look, there’s nothing going on between them, if that’s what you’re insinuating.”

Is that what she told you?”

“Yes and–“

“And you believe her?”

“Why shouldn’t I? We’ve always been honest with each other.”

“Are you blind, Rasik? Didn’t you see how friendly they were at Neena’s party?”

“They were talking, that was all, Vajra. Now, I don’t want to talk about it anymore.”

“Why not? I guess you don’t want to admit that you made a mistake when you dumped me for her.”

“So, that’s what this is all about. Malory was right. You’re still upset that I ended our relationship so that I could be with her.”

“You’re damned right that I’m still upset. How could you do it, Rasik? How could you break my heart like that?”

“I didn’t mean to hurt you but I couldn’t help that I had fallen in love with her.”

“You broke up with me a week after you met her. How could you have fallen in love with her in such a short time?”

“I don’t know but I did.”

“You and I had been dating for six years. Everyone thought that we would have gotten married. And then, Malory comes along and you dump me for her. Did you ever love me, Rasik?”

“I cared for you but–“

“But, you didn’t love me.”

“No. And even if Malory hadn’t come along, the relationship would have ended anyway.”

“Lucky me. I was in love with a guy who didn’t love me and who would have dumped me anyway after dating me for six years.”

“Vajra, I’m sorry…”

“Well, now you will get a taste of your own medicine when she leaves you for him.”

Rasik leaned away from the wall, shoving his hands deep into his pockets as he tried to keep his temper in check. “Malory isn’t going to leave me,” he muttered tightly. “She loves me and I love her. And for your information, there’s nothing going on between her and Reggie. They are just friends.”

“I happen to know that Reggie wants to be more than friends.”

“Who can blame him? Malory is a very beautiful and sexy woman but, she’s my wife. She’s not interested in being more than friends even if he is and if she has to make him understand that, she will. Now, do me a favor and the stay the hell out of our business.” And with that, he turned and strode away, his expression thunderous.
