They came here on hot summer days. It was their special place. Fast friends since childhood and inseparable well into young adulthood.
Neither was interested in dating. “What do I need a boyfriend for when I have you?” she said once before she ran into the water, laughing. He chased after her and they splashed about, making a raucous.
That afternoon, when they were lying in the sun after a swim, she suddenly leaned down and kissed him on the lips. He was startled at first but, then the sweetness of her kiss, enticed his desire for more.

The emphasis on the couple growing up together adds intensity and interest to your story. I enjoyed it.

Aahhhh … youth and love. On the one hand, I wish they hadn’t kissed. Who knows if
the dynamics would have changed their relationship in a negative way. Then, the romantic
in me loves the idea of them finally connecting with their friendship changing into roamantic love.
Love and all its complications … lol
Nicely written, Adele. Stay Safe 😷 Isadora 😎

Yes, young love. It’s good that the kiss didn’t change or impact their relationship in a negative way. Yes, love with all its complications is still a wonderful thing. Thanks, Isadora. You stay safe too 🙂
