What a Ride

I wasn’t interested in Harley-Davidson or in any of their bikes but still, I was there at the museum with Roger who was mooning over them.  He was as enamored with them as I was with him.

His eyes lit up as he looked at each display.  He knew everything there was to know about each bike and I listened, seemingly enthralled.

Later, as we sat at a diner having burgers and fries, he said, “Kit, you’re the only girl I know who is as interested in Harleys as I am.”

I sat there, feeling like a total fake.

  1. This struck home with me. I remember feigning a similar fashion for American football a long time ago. It’s our silver wedding this week – and I haven’t watched a game in all of those 25 years. 🙂

  2. Wow, such an awesome experience! Maybe it’s the tomboy in me lol, but I am also fascinated with motorcycles and love to visit museums every chance I get. Thanks for sharing, oh and ps, you weren’t being a “fake” just supportive of his interest (smile).

    1. Actually, this story isn’t about me. It’s purely fiction but it’s great that you thought it was a chapter out of my life. I’ve never been interested in motorcycles but when I was a girl, I used to like playing with toy guns.

And I like your comment that she was being supportive of his interest but now, she’ll have to be honest with him and tell him that she was more interested in him than in the bikes. Hopefully, he will be thrilled and flattered to hear that.
