I’m staying at the Domaine des Hautes Roches, the first luxury troglodyte hotel in France. I went there for a much needed break after completing my Masters in Psychology. My mother disliked the idea of me going alone.
“Why travel all that way on your own?” she asked. “Why not take a friend with you?”
“No, Mother. I’d rather go alone.”
On my second day in Rochecorbon, I met Henri, a Geoscientist and fellow guest at my hotel. We’re having lunch at a little cafe near Place Plumereau. This is turning into a dream vacation.
