God’s Fairness

I will thank the Lord because He is just.  I will sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High (Psalm 7:17)

I try to be fair to others because God is fair to me.  When I do wrong He brings it to my attention and gives me the opportunity to do what is right.

He is teaching me that in treating others fairly I am obeying His command, “Love your neighbour”.

I will thank Him because He is just.  He gives everyone a fair shake.  He doesn’t treat the poor better than the rich. He wants justice for everyone. He sends the rain on the just and the unjust and causes the sun to rise on both evil and the good people.

He wants me to treat people the way He treats them and not the way I think they should be treated. And it is His desire that everyone should be saved, including the wicked. “Do I have any pleasure in the death of the wicked, says the Lord God, but rather that he should turn from his ways and live?” This is the God I worship.

He sent His Son, Jesus to die for the world, that includes not only those who believed in Him but those who rejected Him. Salvation isn’t for some people but for all. It says that the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men (Titus 2:11) and that whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved” (Romans 10:13).

Is it any wonder that I delight to sing praises to the name of the Lord who judges everyone fairly?  He does not favour the poor nor show deference to the rich.  I know I can always count on His fairness.
