All Clear


He stood there, puzzled.  The blue decorative plate with the dolphin was hanging in the doorway.  This meant that her husband was at home but why was the door open?  It didn’t make any sense.  He texted her. 

Five minutes later, she replied, “All clear.  Forgot to remove the sign.  Come inside.”

Relieved, he put the lawn-mower away in the shed.  He entered the house and after closing the door, he headed for the bedroom where he knew she’d be waiting. 

She stood beside the bed but…she looked scared.

Her husband stepped out from behind the door, revolver in hand.
