Cleansing

I remember growing up as a child, how much I dreaded getting something called Cascara which helps to clean you out.  It was bitter and disgusting but my sisters and I had to drink it.  But, it was for our good.  It cleaned out our insides.

It’s the same with spiritual cleansing.  It’s not something that people like to do.  There are things in us that we don’t want to get rid of.  It’s a bitter taste for us to admit that we need to clean our hearts and our thoughts and everything inside that is not good.

I believe that it should be every Christian’s prayer to ask the Lord for spiritual cleansing–for wholeness.  King David did.  “Purify me from my sins, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.  Create in me a clean heart, O God.  Renew a right spirit within me” (Psalm 51:7,
10).
