The Summer Fling

Copyright David Stewart

Decades ago, this was where she met him, a handsome, wealthy, Vietnamese businessman.  She was a seventeen year old French girl.  It was a hot summer when she came with her parents.  She was staring at the giant pink crystal lotus when he approached her.  They talked. He brought her an ice-cream.  They arranged to meet every day after that.  Their summer fling ended when she returned to Paris.  Years later, she read about his marriage to a Chinese heiress.  It was right after her parents sent her away to have the baby girl she was forced to give up.
