I knelt in the cemetery, my heart heavy with grief and sorrow. My beloved had departed a fortnight ago, leaving me inconsolable. Tears streamed down my face as I lifted my gaze heavenward and asked the Lord why He’d seen it fit to rob me of my happiness. Why had He taken my Edgar away from me after eight months of marriage and made me a young widow with no children and soon to become homeless as Edgar’s family was determined to turn me out of the home we shared because I was a foreigner? Oh, Lord, have mercy on me. Let the ground open and devour me.

Some times the Lord acts in ways we can’t understand but we have to continue to trust that He knows best.
This is heartbreaking, Adele. Beautiful, though sad.

Thanks, Dale. It came out of grieving for my son whom as you know, passed away last year.

Yes. I know.
And it touched me as I am a widow (though I was not all that young at 50, but young enough)

Not matter what age you are, losing a spouse can be very devastating. We are always thankful for the time we were able to have with our loved ones. I’m thankful for the 11 years I had with my little guy as I’m sure you’re thankful for the time you had with your dear husband. They will forever live in our hearts.

Yes. Absolutely. I didn’t have my little guy for very long, not quite 8 months and my husband for almost 20 years. We enjoy every moment and yes, they will live forever in our hearts.

Oh, Dale. I’m so sorry to hear about your son. I seem to recall you saying something when I mentioned my loss which indicated that you had lost a child but I never confirmed it. This is why time and life are so precious. We don’t know how much time we have and that’s why every moment counts. My faith in God is what keeps me going. He has been my Rock throughout my grieving process. And you are such a positive and upbeat person. I’m thankful that I met and other wonderful people through WordPress.

We all have our ways of dealing with life’s challenges. I am really happy to see you back here and writing again with us. I think, for me, when you have suffered loss (and I’ve had quite a few, sadly), you learn to live life to the fullest and find the joy. I guess I am lucky to have such a disposition

Yes, we do. Thanks, Dale. It’s good to be back. And you’re right, you have to learn to live life to its fullest. And I know that the joy will come and everyday, I’m reminded that I have a lot to be thankful for. Yes, it’s very good that you have the disposition you have.

Dear Adele,
The grief is tangible in this. Written from the heart to the heart.

Dear Rochelle,
I guess the grief came across that way because I’m experiencing it over the loss of my son. It was written from the heart. My thoughts and prayers are with those who are still grieving.
Shalom,
Adele
