My family and I drive past it every day on our way to drop our son to school. It’s a beautiful old building in a quiet neighborhood. I’ve often wondered what it looks like inside.
I recently learned that the word synagogue comes from the Greek word for gathering together. It can be a house of prayer, of learning or a meeting place. It’s a place where people of shared faith feel at home.
I have a Jewish friend. I wonder if she wouldn’t mind me tagging along one Saturday. I want to experience what their worship service is like.

And why not? The more we learn about each other the less we will fear the ‘other’ and start to live together peacefully.

What Iain said. This certainly would help with understanding.

I would say what the other two have already said, except that I still haven’t done it so I don’t want to be a hypocrite 😉 I do want to go and see, and to a mosque for Friday prayers as well, just to see.

I’ve never thought of visiting a synagogue but it may be something I would seriously consider doing one day.

Dear Adele,
If only we would all try to understand each other. Interesting aside, in Hebrew synagogue is bet ha’k’nesset – the house of meeting. 😀 Nicely written.

You can only ask her. I have worshipped in different churches and denominations but not yet with people of a different faith – I must find a way to do that too.

Yes, all she has to do is ask and I’m sure her friend would be happy to invite her. I have never been to a synagogue. I suspect that it would be a rich experience.

If we all took the time to visit each other’s place of worship, maybe we would discover that all preach the same thing. Love.
Nicely done, Adele.

Visiting a place of worship with full faith and devotion to god, why would anyone object? I think devotees will be thrilled.

You’re right, Abhijit. I don’t think her friend would mind at all.
