“I can’t believe that Luke Perry is dead.”

“Who’s Luke Perry?”

“He was before your time, Andrea.  Here’s a photo of him.”

“He’s cute but not as cute as Shawn Mendes.”

“Who’s he?”

Andrea rolled her eyes.  “Really, Mom?  You don’t know who Shawn Mendes is?”

“No.”

Sigh.  “Here’s my wallpaper of him.”

“He’s cute but not as cute as your Dad.”

Andrea stared at her. “Dad? Are you serious?”

“Your father was a hunk.”

Just then, Dave walked in.  “Is Mark here?  His motorbike’s parked outside.”

Andrea looked at her Dad and burst into laughter.

“What’s so funny?”

“Nothing.”

I was a big fan of Beverly Hills:  90210 and was sorry to hear of Luke Perry’s passing.  It was his role as Dylan McKay which made him a teen heartthrob and idol in the 1990s.

    1. Thanks 🙂 Yes, I remember those days when I used to sit down and get ready to spend an hour watching Brenda, Brendan, Kelly, Steve, Donna, David, Andrea and last, but definitely not least, Dylan.

  1. Dear Adele,

I never watched Beverly Hills 90210 but I’m no less shocked over Luke Perry’s death. Love the voice of the teenager in this. I laughed out loud with her. Well done.

Generation gap is so beautifully captured. Concept of attractive keeps on changing from generation to generation. Andrea laughed because in her mind David is not a hunk or Mark cannot be here when dad is around? Teenagers can be quirky!

    1. Thanks, Abhijit. You’re right the concept of what’s attractive or cute changes with each generation. And teenagers can be quirky. Mark just stopped by to visit his folks. Dad wasn’t there when he arrived.
