“Where’s Gary?” Maddie asked Karla.

“He’s in the shed hammering away on his laptop.”

Maddie looked surprised.  “Why the shed and not the study?”

Karla shrugged.  “Who knows?  He’s been acting strange lately.”

“Have you told him yet?”

“That we’re going to have another baby?  No.”

“Why not?”

“We had agreed that after our fourth we won’t have any more.”

“Well, accidents happen.  What are you going to do?  He has to know sometime.  It’s best to tell him before you start to show.”

“Don’t worry I’ll tell him.”

“When?”

“Soon.”

Maddie didn’t press any further.  She changed the subject.

    1. Yes, she’s right. And Karla needs to tell him very soon. It’s possible as Brenda and Linda suggested that he may already know or suspect that another baby is on the way and is trying to figure out what to do. Maybe the shed is his escape from a full house. There are so many possibilities.

    1. He could have had a vasectomy done, if he was serious about not “taking the pitcher to the well”, again. I hate it when the woman is the only one expected to prevent conception.
No poor guy hear. They made this baby together and they are going to care for it together. Period.

      1. I don’t think he should go as far as having a vasectomy but I agree with you. The onus should not be on one or the other but on both. Both of them need to be responsible. If it was decided that they didn’t want any more children, they should have taken precautions but even those are not 100%.

      2. Hmm. I don’t know. Vasectomy and Tube tying are both extreme. Yet in most cases women are “expected” to tie their tubes. Most unfair. I declare, birth control methods must be decided upon before marriage.
