She stared at the board, the pieces reflecting in her eye. The move was right there in front of her. She could end the game right now but she didn’t want to if it meant being with him a bit longer. He was flying back to Moscow shortly.
She could feel him watching her. Did he have any idea of how she felt about him? Perhaps, not. If he did, she’d be history. Theirs was a purely physical relationship. No strings attached. But, that was before her heart got involved…
He glanced at his watch.
She made her move. “Checkmate.”

Oh yes, that thing called “unrequited love”.

Good that she did not allow her heart to make her lose the game. Relationship should not matter in a game.

Made me think about the old musical “Chess” and wonder whether she is going ‘move her world to be with him’, I kind of got that she might. Well told.

Thanks, Jilly 🙂 I’m hoping that she will get out of the relationship but who knows. Although it’s clear that he doesn’t love her, she loves him. While she wants to prolong their time together, he’s glancing at his watch. I hope she will find the courage to end it and move on.

Yes, she has a dilemma. Heart ruling head. But great inspiration for another story!

That’s right. Her heart is ruling her head. Yes, there could be another story 🙂

Eh, there are other fish in the sea. Out there somewhere is one that will love her in return. Nice story.

Dear Adele,
The tension is thick in this story. I hope it works out for her and that he’s worth it. Nicely played.

I’m glad she won the game, though not his heart. More fish in the sea. 🙂
