Initially, she had been nervous going to the JP Morgan’s Re-Entry Program, a 14-week training experience for women like her who left the workforce but after being encouraged by family and friends, she decided to go for it. Besides, she missed working.
She had left her job to be a stay at home Mom of three but now that her husband was deceased and the kids were grown, she longed to be among the working class. Concerns about ageism had prevented her from venturing out before now.
Here goes. Taking a deep breath, she climbed the stairs.

Ageism. I know it’s out there, but for me my age has been a great asset in my counseling practice. I’m blessed, indeed.

Thank you 🙂 Dreams stay alive as long as we keep them alive and until they are no longer dreams but real accomplishments. And we should not allow age to prevent us from reaching our goals. Who said setting goals and fulfilling dreams were only for the young?

Thanks, Jilly and you’re so right about fear. Sometimes we allow fear to get the better of us. Faith as well encouragement and support from loved ones can help us to overcome our fear and face the unknown which can lead to wonderful opportunities. And it’s a blessing that there are organizations out there to help people to re-enter the workforce.
