He sat in the unmarked car, watching and waiting. He suspected that she was cheating on him. Tonight his shift ended early so he drove over. A red corvette was parked outside. Last night it was a Fiat. An hour later, he saw the guy leave. He turned to open his car door, when he saw a Lamborghini pull up. Then it dawned on him. She was turning tricks again.
He reached for his gun. Don’t do it. She isn’t worth it. He moved his hand away and made the call. Dawn arrived the same time as backup did.

They aren’t co-workers. He’s a cop and she was a prostitute.

This may be a cultural difference, but why did he need back-up? Is it illegal to cheat on a cop?

She used to be a prostitute and after meeting him she stopped doing it and they got involved. But, now she’s back to her old life and doing it in her home. So, he’s arresting her for that and getting backup just in case things get ugly because of the customer who is there with her.

He was taking a chance hooking up with a prostitute… and as for the backup, maybe it would be best if someone else arrested her!

You’re right, Dale. He took a real chance getting involved with her. I guess he hoped that he had rehabilitated her and that she wouldn’t resort back to her old ways. He was clearly wrong. Perhaps, he wanted to prove that he could still do his job and not allow personal feelings to get in the way although, he had come very close to doing something he would later regret. Thankfully, reason won over feelings.

I wonder why she went back to her old ways if he was in her life and being a good partner to her? Sounds as if she enjoyed her work in which case he is on to a loser. Interesting take.

You’re right, it doesn’t make sense that she’s in a relationship with a terrific man and she reverts back to her old ways. In her case, it appears that a leopard can’t change its spots. He’s better off without her.
