In this parable about sheep and goats, Jesus is basically saying that we ought to love others the way we love Him. If we saw Jesus hungry, we would give Him food or thirsty, we would give Him water. Whatever help He needed we would give it to Him. It’s the same thing with people. We would go out of our way to help them, minister to them as if we were doing it to Jesus.
Your love for the Lord should be your motive for reaching out and helping those in need.
And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for[a] you serve the Lord Christ – Colossians 3:23, 24).
