Feeling Inadequate?

Do you ever feel inadequate of being a good mother? Are there days when you think, “God, are you sure I can do this? If you ever feel inadequate, you’re not alone. Women all over the world struggle with those same feelings of insecurity, self-doubt, and hopelessness.  Even though you feel less than able to do all the things on your plate, God sees you as more than able to do everything He has called you to do.

When God called Gideon to lead His people against Midian, he said, “I’m the weakest in Manasseh–the runt of the litter.”  Still, God addressed him as “You mighty man of valor.”  God didn’t see Gideon as a weak worm of the dust.  He saw Gideon as a mighty man of valor.  God sees you as mighty and strong and capable too.  Ask God to help you see yourself as He sees you.

Prayer:  Lord, help me to see myself as You see me.  I love You.  Amen.

The same God who guides the stars in their courses, who directs the earth in its orbit, who feeds the burning furnace of the sun and keeps the stars perpetually buringin with their fires–the same God has promised to supply thy strength–Charles Spurgeon.

It’s not easy being a parent.  I admire women who have more than one child because for me one child is a handful, especially when it’s a boy.  Fortunately, I am not raising him alone.  His Dad and I are doing it together.

Being parents have helped us to better understand how challenging and rewarding it was for our parents and our respect for them grows by leaps and bounds.

We are going through the trying threes now but with God’s help and guidance, we are faring well.  Our challenge is getting our son to listen and follow our instructions.  We don’t want to have to tell him to do something a few times before he does it.  Once or twice should be enough!

There are times when one of us is stressed out and the other is there to offer support.  There are times when I feel like pulling my hair out but my husband helps me to destress.  We help each other out.

Raising a child also gives us a greater understanding of God’s role as our Heavenly Father and what it must be like for Him when we are disobedient and wilful.  There are parts in the Bible when He gives instructions to His children but they don’t follow them.  They want to do their own thing and more often than not, that only gets them into trouble.  It breaks God’s heart when His children don’t listen to Him or follow His instructions which are for their own good.

We do what we do for our children for their own good.  All they have to do is listen and do as they are instructed and all will be well with them.  Don’t be discouraged or don’t feel like you can’t do this.  You can.
